Day 62: So What I Learned was...The Comedy of Errors was really short...

from CollaborativeArtsTheatre.com
So I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to blog about for the rest of the week because, truth is, I finished The Comedy of Errors in about an hour or two. Not only is it really short, it is also a VERY easy read. It's farcical, silly and completely devoid of any subtext. It doesn't really have much in the way of subplots. I didn't hate it or anything. There's just not much to it, so there's not much to think about.

Actually it's best not to think about it too much. Otherwise you'd be forced to ask such questions as:

  • Why did each set of twins have the exact same names?
  • Were they wearing the same clothes the whole time? If not, why did no one comment on this?
  • Why didn't their mother--now an abbess--ever recognize them? Or at least the twin that was her son, since they lived in the same town the whole time?
  • Come to think of it, why exactly was their mom an abbess again?
  • If they KNEW they each had twin brothers, why did they NEVER think that they might have stumbled upon them? I mean, that would have explained a lot.
  • Wait, why were they estranged from their father? That was weird.

So yeah, best not to think about it.

Day 59: And of course...a Comedy of Errors word cloud!

This one is interesting. It sort of looks like they say the character names about a million times more often than any other word in the play.

Day 58: Finally! I can watch Big Business!

I'm excited that I'm finally reading The Comedy of Errors. Apparently it involves two sets of identical twins who were separated at birth and was the basis of the movie Big Business starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin. Wahoo! I saw that movie in the 80's. I'm half-way home!

But obviously I should watch it again. You know, for research.

Day 57: New Play Tuesday! The Comedy of Errors

Finally! The Comedy of Errors! This is actually the play I had intended to read first but then got sidetracked (several times over). I'm excited!

Day 5: Maybe I'll start with a short one...

Ooh! The Comedy of Errors! So I heard this was one of Shakespeare's shortest plays and I was all like, "Sold! Let's start with this one!"

Apparently it involves two sets of identical twins who were separated at birth and was the basis of the movie Big Business starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin. Wahoo! I saw that movie in the 80's. I'm half-way home!

Oh shoot. Didn't I say I was going to start with The Tempest? Right. Dammit! Mike's probably done by now!
